Thousands of Bikers Saddle Up for 'Dave Day 2' – A Roaring Tribute to Hairy Biker Legend Dave Myers

Get ready for the rumble, because this weekend (June 21–22), the UK’s roads will echo with the thunder of tens of thousands of motorcycles as riders from across the country unite for Dave Day 2 – a heartfelt, full-throttle tribute to the much-missed Hairy Biker, Dave Myers.

The beloved TV chef and lifelong motorbike enthusiast passed away in February 2024, aged 66, after a courageous battle with cancer. But his legacy lives on in steel, spirit, and the camaraderie of the biking community.

Last year’s inaugural Dave Day saw a staggering 46,000 riders blaze the route from London to Dave’s hometown of Barrow-in-Furness, with 20,000 making it all the way to the seaside town. It raised over £127,000 for charity, and this year’s ride is shaping up to be just as epic – if not bigger.

From the M6 to the Music

The procession will once again thunder up the M6, cutting through North Lancashire before rolling into Barrow via the A590 and Abbey Road. Crowds are encouraged to line the bridges, wave flags, and cheer the riders on – but safety’s the top priority. Barriers will be in place through the town centre, and volunteers will be on hand to guide the flow.

Local councils are urging fans to stay behind the barriers, use the designated crossings, and – tempting as it may be – resist the urge to high-five a passing biker. Let’s keep the celebration smooth and safe.

Expect road closures, diversions, and some serious traffic delays around Barrow and junction 36 of the M6, especially Saturday afternoon. National Highways has already flagged Knutsford Services as a major gathering point for southern riders, so plan your journeys and give the bikers space to ride safe.

A Weekend of Music, Football & Community Spirit

Dave Day isn’t just about the ride – it’s a weekend-long celebration of community, charity, and classic rock.

Barrow Town Hall will host a stacked Saturday and Sunday lineup featuring Darren Wharton’s Renegade, celebrating the legacy of Thin Lizzy, and Hells Bells, Europe’s longest-running AC/DC tribute act. Local legends Don’t Tell Alice, The AeroBees, and Sugarfoot will kick off the festivities in true Cumbrian style.

Barrow Raiders’ stadium will also be buzzing with action from Saturday afternoon. With big screen entertainment from 3pm and evening DJ sets from DJ Cameron and Phil Lees, expect dancing, laughter, and a few tearful toasts in memory of Dave.

On Sunday, the party continues from 2pm with even more entertainment – all designed to keep the community spirit revving.

Charity Match Kicks Off at Noon

The So Legal Stadium – home of Barrow AFC – will play host to a star-studded Dave Day charity football match on Sunday. The action kicks off at 12 noon, with gates open from 10am and plenty of family-friendly fun around the ground.

The match will see a North-West Community All-Star team, including the likes of former Liverpool striker Rickie Lambert and ex-England midfielder Gavin McCann, take on a determined Bikers XI. Expect goals, good humour, and a bit of old-school banter – all in the name of a great cause.

A Community Rallies on Two Wheels

Westmorland and Furness Council, along with local emergency services and highways agencies, are working behind the scenes to keep everything safe, secure, and respectful. They’ve made it clear that while they’re not organising the event, they’re doing everything possible to support the community and the thousands of bikers descending on Barrow.

Signage is up, roads are being managed, and marshals are ready. It’s all hands on deck to ensure the second Dave Day honours the memory of a man who brought food, laughter, and biking joy to millions.

Motorbike Mad Verdict:

Dave Day 2 isn’t just another ride – it’s a movement, a memory on wheels, and a proper celebration of a true motorcycling icon. If you’re heading out to join the convoy or line the route, ride safe, cheer loud, and be proud. This is the biking brotherhood at its absolute best.
