Senior TT Cancelled: Wind Brings the 2025 Isle of Man TT to an Early Close

Senior TT Cancelled: Wind Brings the 2025 Isle of Man TT to an Early Close8

The day was already a bit of a rollercoaster with the Senior TT originally set for a 10:45 AM start but delayed by nearly four hours thanks to overnight rain and scattered showers that just wouldn’t clear. Organisers pushed the race back to 7 PM and shortened it from six laps to four, hoping the weather would calm down.

Riders took a lap at 6 PM to check out the conditions, but the wind was causing problems in some surprising spots on the course. Gusts were coming from unexpected directions and making it unsafe to race. As the 7 PM start got closer, the riders huddled to talk it through.

After hearing their feedback, Gary Thompson, the Clerk of the Course, announced that the race wouldn’t go ahead. He said that even though riders had practiced in windy conditions earlier, the direction and strength of the wind that evening were too risky. Safety came first, so the Senior TT was called off.

Unfortunately, with bad weather expected on Sunday and road closures limited, there won’t be another chance to run the race this year.

Even though the Senior TT didn’t happen, the 2025 Isle of Man TT still gave us some epic moments. Michael Dunlop smashed it with four wins in the Supersport and Supertwin classes, pushing his all-time TT wins to a whopping 33. Dean Harrison made a strong comeback too, bagging two Superstock wins — his first TT victories since 2019. Davey Todd also grabbed a big win in the Superbike TT earlier in the week.

On three wheels, the Crowe brothers, Ryan and Callum, totally dominated the Sidecar races, winning twice and setting a new lap record. They’re definitely ones to watch for next year.

So yeah, the weather may have spoiled the big finale, but the 2025 TT still gave us plenty to cheer about. Roll on 2026!

What a mess off a fortnight, we can’t control the weather and safety is absolute priority, I feel sorry for all the fans being ripped off by the ferries and hotels, the waits and cancellations make me never want to return there again, shame
